An analyst job is one of the most impressive types of jobs on hand for those who can research and write complete reports covering an array of markets such as healthcare, software and information technology.
Analysts can work from their own home office independently or can be based anywhere in the world. A successful analyst should be able to find or access market data and they should have good research skills and familiarity with data sources in their field. They should also be organized and able to meet deadlines.
Experience should include a minimum of Bachelor's degree and sometimes a doctorate; a quick learner with excellent communication skills and a self starter with proven track record and business goals.

A marketing analyst, for example, is a person who collects and analyzes data to evaluate existing and potential product and service markets. Marketing analysts may provide database marketing analysis to the company. A computer programmer analyst may write, test and maintain the detailed instructions that computers must follow to perform their functions while financial analysts gather information, assemble spreadsheets, write reports and prepare a plan of action based on financial analysis. Employment of financial analysts is expected to grow by 20 percent between 2010 and 2018, faster than average for all professions, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Meanwhile, a data analyst performs complex data analysis by the company or the customer's request. Duties include assuring the integrity of project data; being responsible for administration, database design and security and analyzing data and interpreting the results with standard methods.
A business analyst understands a company's business needs and reviews documentation work, functional requirements, information resources and helps in its improvement. The business analysts also designs and documents work flow and collects and analyzes a project's business requirements. Software analysts review software specifications and are expected to have a working knowledge of software technology, computer programming expertise and good problem solving and problem reduction skills.
There are some positive traits an analyst should have which will make them well suited for the analyst job. The first is good analytical skills, next would be curiosity, knowing their craft, flexibility and being thorough in nature. The analyst should also process ideas from people, listen well and be quick to connect with the group.
The successful analyst should be comfortable with numerical data, be computer proficient with excellent communication skills.
